Summary

A grief-stricken spiritualist thought his faith in life after death was broken。 Until the ghosts of his past come calling in this short story of believing in what can’t be seen。

Driven by an uncanny mystery from his youth, Ian Randall became a “spiritual cleanser,” ridding disturbances from homes。 But his belief in the beyond was challenged by his wife’s death。 Merle House, the root of Ian’s obsession, could change that。 The woods are restless again。 Maybe here, Ian will find what he needs—if he’s willing to make a deal with the dark。

Fog Descending is part of House of Crows, a four-part serial about friends with a shared history of darkness。 They’ve spent their lives running, but they can no longer hide from the past。 Each story can be read or listened to in a single haunted sitting。

This is a novella: second of four。 I enjoyed both one and two。 As I said about one, interesting characters, good writing, and horror。 Right down my alley。 I’ll be reading the final two next。

Taking on a Slender Man vibe。

Book 2 of 4 of the House of Crow Series。 The Lisa Unger I have always enjoyed is back, with the best stories she has written since In The Blood。

Book two and still drawn to it。 The creepiness keeps growing。 I love learning what happened then and what is going on now。 I can not wait to find out how it ends。

I really liked the character of Ian and his deceased wife。 The supernatural element was strongest in this one。

**same review for all 4 stories**All I have done since I woke up this morning is read this series。 Sigh, I just love Lisa Unger。 We get this very atmospheric and creepy vibe in part #1, followed by a bit of levity layered with suspense and Slender Man vibes but with the Dark Man in part #2, ouija boards and chilly games in part #3, ending with revelations wonder in part #4。 You want it, you've got it!I love how quick each read was and how I felt like I was going backwards and forwards at the sam **same review for all 4 stories**All I have done since I woke up this morning is read this series。 Sigh, I just love Lisa Unger。 We get this very atmospheric and creepy vibe in part #1, followed by a bit of levity layered with suspense and Slender Man vibes but with the Dark Man in part #2, ouija boards and chilly games in part #3, ending with revelations wonder in part #4。 You want it, you've got it!I love how quick each read was and how I felt like I was going backwards and forwards at the same time。。。 which I know sounds weird but it's delicious fun。 I just could NOT STOP。 I really can't way much without spoiling things but this is quite the ride。 Not only was there this。。。。 nope, can't say that。。。。 hmm。 I really loved that。。。 Nope, can't say that either。 Y'all! This is hard。Ok, Unger, as you know (and if you don't - go remedy that immediately), is AMAZING at setting the very creepy and suspenseful atmosphere that lends to the perfect read for this rainy, gloomy day。 Talk about mood setting (thanks Nature!)。 Drawing readers in immediately and keeping them wondering - you'll have a lot of fun with this one。 Just remember, you can't hide from the past forever and sometime evil just needs an excuse to show face。。。 so be careful out there, readers。 Caw caw。 。。。more

The entire short story collection was great。 I don’t know why this wasn’t just published as an Amazon original story, but maybe because it would have been too long。 I liked the characters and the question of whether the Dark Man was real or not。 The ending of the book though leaves a question of whether time can heal things or not。 I did have to say that the character of Samantha left me with some questions though。Review for story 2: We follow a spiritualist named Ian Randall who apparently is s The entire short story collection was great。 I don’t know why this wasn’t just published as an Amazon original story, but maybe because it would have been too long。 I liked the characters and the question of whether the Dark Man was real or not。 The ending of the book though leaves a question of whether time can heal things or not。 I did have to say that the character of Samantha left me with some questions though。Review for story 2: We follow a spiritualist named Ian Randall who apparently is similar to that woman in Poltergeist that he can "talk" to spirits and clean a house。 This is the first mention of the Dark Man though which has some ties to Ian's past。 We also follow Matthew some more as he reveals more of what caused him to lose his job at the college。 We follow up with Claire too who is thinking about returning to Merle house。 And we get another character named Mason, who believes in a higher power, but is not a priest。 We find out that these four people all knew each other as teens and something dark happened at Merle house。I really did like the additional characters in this one。 Ian was sad to me。 I can see why he was willing to do whatever to get his beloved wife back。 Mason was a puzzle at first, but I liked him more in the subsequent stories。 。。。more
